After-School Drop In
For libraries that have after-school programs we offer an opportunity for students to experiment with synthesizers individually and/or in groups. We bring up to 10 synthesizers and a deck of “sound cards” - large post cards with a type of sound written on one side and instructions on how to create it on the other side. Types of sounds can be “metal” (example below), ”water”, “wobble”, and “laser” among others. The sounds are easy to create, and once students explore a few sound cards they have quickly built a foundation upon which they can begin to experiment.
This is a great option for any age group that is able to follow along with simple written instructions. With 10 systems we can accommodate up to 20 participants simultaneously. We also bring the means to record the sounds that students make so they have the option to save a digital record (mp3 or wav file) of their audio experiment. It’s even possible to record all 10 systems together together at once (crazy, we know!).
